The Integrated Opto-Electronics program at IIT Hyderabad focuses on developing high-bandwidth, power-efficient optical modules for next-generation computing and AI accelerators. By integrating photonic circuits directly on glass substrates, the center aims to overcome the copper interconnect bottleneck, enabling high-performance chiplet-to-chiplet and rack-to-rack optical links.
Designing low-loss optical waveguides embedded within glass panels to guide light directly between silicon chiplets.
Development of wafer-level copper/dielectric hybrid bonding techniques on glass substrates for sub-micron pitch electrical and optical contacts.
Automatic sub-micron passive and active alignment techniques for coupling fiber arrays directly to integrated waveguides.
Optimizing transceiver packaging designs to support superior bandwidth density and ultra-low power consumption.
Founding companies and academic labs can submit a request for project collaborations or research internships.
